Apr 30, 2010 · Machining "T1" steel? I'm in need to make a big hole- apprx. 5"- in a big block- apprx 1.5" thick- of T1 steel. I wasn't overly familiar with that spec, so a quick Google gives me either A514-T1 or T1-321/T1-360, all high-wear, abrasion-resistant steels.

Apr 29, 2019 · Looking for suggestions on good cutting tools for use on A514 steel? The machine is a large horizontal boring mill. Many of the parts are cut out on a burn table before machining so there are hard areas along the edges. We have used some carbide but have had issues with breakage on the hard spots. High speed steel wears out quickly.
